3. Fill in this sequence: 1,3,6,10,__,21,28,__ etc.
4. What is the sixth number in the sequence 1, 3, 7, 15, 31, ___, 127?
ANSWERS
1. The missing items are 9 and 36. Each item is the square of 1,2,3, etc.
2. Each number is the one before it plus 3. So the missing numbers are 10 and 16.
3. In each item, the difference is one greater than that of the previous item. So 6+4=10, 10+5=15, 15+6=21,21+7=28, and 28+8=36. The missing numbers are 15 and 36.
4. Each number is twice the previous number, plus one. So the missing number is (2 x 31) + 1 = 63.
