Scientific Notation
Scientific notation is used for very large or very small numbers.
Scientific notation has two parts: a) there is one, and only one, digit to the left of the decimal point, and b) the number is multiplied by 10 raised to some exponent. The exponent can be positive or negative.
Test questions involve converting from regular numbers to scientific notation or from scientific notation to regular numbers. The built-in calculator won't be necessary. The trick is to get the decimal in the right place and then to get the exponent right.
